Ron “Scope Bite” Loomis: One of the original members. His gun of choice is anything Winchester…for some reason. He is fairly proficient with it, as indicated by his 2004 victory in the BSHC open. However, for all his ability with a shotgun, and despite four years in the army, he still cant sight in
a deer rifle without almost knocking himself out, nor can he cross an electric fence without almost frying his balls off. Thanks for providing us with years of laughs!!!!
Erik “I got it” Mueller: Erik was only a young lad when
the group was founded, but he always aspired to be a member. That finally came
in 1994 when he was 13 years old. His gun of choice is a Beretta AL 391, but
he cut his teeth on a Remington Model 31. His three victories in the BSHC
open speak to his abilities, as well as point out the fact that he has won it three times as much as Ron. He is widely known for claiming to have gotten a piece of pheasants that were 70+ yards away.
Mark “Cornbread” Mueller:
Also one of the original members. He has carried numerous shotguns in
his day. He started with the Remington Model 31, which he passed on to Erik. He then carried an Italian 12 gauge over under.
When that got too heavy and the kick was too much, he moved to a 20 gauge Remington 870 Express. Many a pheasant has fallen to a Mark Mueller shot; clay pigeons are another story.
Tim “Light Beer” Mueller:
Brother of Mark, Tim joined the club in 1995. For years he carried around
some kind of pump shotgun that was held together by duct tape, bubble gum, chicken wire, gravity and the adhesive properties
of gunpowder residue or some shit. Even still, he could put 7 rounds in the air
before the first shell hit the ground. In 2005 he upgraded to a 12 gauge Browning
autoloader. Don’t let his preference for light beer fool you; he’s
pretty handy with the shootin’ iron, as proven by his two victories in the BSHC open.
Tony “Ack Ack” Mueller:
Son of Tim, he also joined the club in 1995. You will find him carrying
a 12 gauge Remington 870 Express. His tactic is to fiercely fire as many rounds
as possible in the general direction of his target. While to the un-trained eye
this may seem crude, he has refined his technique over the years, culminating in his 2007 victory in the BSHC open.
Allen “Apple Spice” Stangl: Founding member, co-owner of the Stangl Hunting lodge and proprietor of the Full Choke Lounge. For years he carried a Remington 870 Wingmaster, which he got when he was discharged from the Air Force. In 2006 he moved to an Italian 12 gauge over-under.
His lack of victory in the BSHC open belies his abilities; in the field he a stone cold killer. However, his fondness for Apple Spice Leinenkugel’s shows that he has a soft side too.
Connie “Annie Oakely” Stangl: Co-owner of the Stangl Hunting Lodge. She carries a 20 gauge
Mossberg pump. The sole female champion of the BSHC open, it should be noted
that she won it before Ron. The only one in the group who doesn’t have
an embarrassing attribute; or maybe I am just not mentioning them because she cooks so many of the clubs meals.
Rick “Runnin’ Rooster” Pelecheck: A founding member, Rick carries a Wards 12 gauge pump. His
tactic is to allow everyone else to focus on the pheasants in the air leaving him free to pick off the ones on the ground. While some may call this unsporting, it has on several occasions, prevented us from
getting skunked. His wife has sworn to destroy the trophy should Rick ever win
the BSHC open. We therefore assume that his lack of victory at the open is by
choice, motivated by his reverence for Jake and a desire not to see it destroyed. Way
to put the club before yourself Rick.
